TJ and Lauren Oshie’s baby shower games includes chugging beer from baby bottles

TJ Oshie’s beer-chugging celebration became an instant classic after the Stanley Cup, and has been imitated but never duplicated.

The latest iteration is also the cutest: the Oshies had a baby shower for the son they’re expecting in March, and all the dads had a contest where they chugged beer through ‘slow flow’ baby bottles. Soon-to-be-mom-of-three Lauren Oshie documented the events on her Instagram. Also in attendance were teammates Nicklas Backstrom, Nick Jensen, and Nic Dowd.

Photos and video

The beer chugging out of baby bottles video begins in the fifth frame of this Instagram Gallery post.

The couple announced the pregnancy in August, adding that the due date was in March. They had a party at MedStar Capitals Iceplex where they announced they were expecting a boy

The cake, complete with teddy bear and letter blocks, was provided by Fluffy Thoughts Cakes.

TJ Oshie writes special tribute to family and unborn son on his game sticks

The NHL has always limited how much individual players can express themselves during games, yet some stars still find a way.

Capitals forward TJ Oshie, for instance, writes a heartfelt tribute on every one of his game sticks. In 2016, we first reported that Oshie wrote the initials of his wife Lauren and his daughter Lyla on his sticks. Now Oshie, a father of two daughters and with a son on the way, has updated his message to include Leni’s initials and three dots for his unborn son.

The photos were shared by Jonah P. whose daughter received a game-used stick from Oshie earlier in the year. The initials are written in black marker.

There’s also another variation Oshie does where he simplifies the message and puts LLL and a single dot. This image was shared by the Altman family after Will got a stick from Oshie after he holding up a creative sign and wearing a donut plush toy on his head during warmups.

Before the Oshies became pregnant with their third child, TJ only included the initials LCO, LGO, and LRO.

Lauren, Oshie’s wife, is currently 38-weeks pregnant and has a due date in late March.

The couple first revealed they were having a third child in late August and had a gender reveal party at MedStar Capitals Iceplex in early September.

By the time the NHL starts up play again, Oshie will have another set of initials to add to his sticks.

The Oshie family is about to grow one chonky son bigger.

On Monday, Lauren Oshie took to her bathroom to take one final photo with her baby bump. The photo suggests she’s being induced today or tomorrow.

Several days ago, Lauren also posted a video of TJ creating the couple’s crib from Nook Sleep and West Coast Kids.

While waiting for Baby Oshie number three to arrive, TJ has put a tribute on his game sticks which includes initials for everyone in his family and dots for his unborn son.

The baby will mark the couple’s third child and first son. TJ and Lauren are already parents to Lyla and Leni.

The Oshie family just got one tiny human bigger. Lauren Oshie gave birth to the couple’s third child, their first boy, Campbell Richard Oshie.

Campell was delivered on Monday and his birthday is one day before his older sister, Lyla, who turned six years old today.

Lyla and Leni are now both older sisters.

We first learned that Baby Oshie was soon to arrive on Lauren’s Instagram Monday morning when she posted her last photo with her bump.

While waiting for Baby Oshie number three to arrive, TJ put a tribute on his game sticks which includes initials for everyone in his family and dots for his unborn son.

TJ also published a post celebrating Lyla’s birthday.

Campbell Oshie has officially been welcomed into the world and, he was introduced to his sisters Lyla and Leni on Wednesday.

Lyla got the chance to hold the little cherub and when she held him close, he gave her a gift.

I love that Lyla was so excited that she has a little brother that she laughed off his bladder accident. I also cannot believe I already consider Campbell as a relatable king. I am also a baby and I also pee!

Ian tells me that Ethan did the same thing to Alan May when Alan held his son when he was six days old. “He could sense evil,” Ian said to me very seriously in a message.

Congratulations to the Oshie family. Can’t wait for more hilarious moments.

Update: Five minutes after giving Lyla a surprise, Campbell gave Leni a surprise too!

Campbell Oshie is only five days old, but he’s already living the sweet life.

Lauren Oshie revealed a newborn cake that was baked for their first son by Fluffy Thoughts Cakes located in McLean, VA. The cake is a Campbell’s Soup can that says Campbell’s Oshie’s Birthday Soup.

Campbell opened his eyes so he seems pretty impressed by it.

The family took what Lauren termed a “quarantine walk” around their neighborhood today.

Lyla even pushed the baby carriage.

You’ll be happy to know the canvas was their dad’s face.

The two tiny troublemakers gave themselves makeovers. Then they turned to TJ who was napping on the sofa.

“Do it Lyla,” Leni whispered, encouraging her older sister to apply eye shadow.

The two couldn’t stop giggling.

The previous day, Lauren also shared several other shots including a pic of the whole family in front of a trellis.

Meanwhile, Anna shared her favorite from the photo set. “This is one of my favorites of them all @annameyerphoto 😍,” Lauren commented.

Anna also recently took the newborn photos for the Jensens and their newborn son Lorenzo.

Leni looks off into the distance with this steely gaze as if carbs are near. Meanwhile, the princess of the house, Lyla, wears a crown and holds a squirmy baby Campbell, suggesting she will be a very active mentor in her younger brother’s life.

After posing for this pic and playing dress-up, the girls took to a park and rode their bikes while dad held Campbell in the car. TJ Oshie recently taught Lyla how to ride a bike for the first time and it seems she can’t get enough now.

Lauren recently wrote that she’s “#feelingcomplete” in the caption of a family portrait photo suggesting the two parents may be done having more children. And who could blame them? These three kids are fun and a handful!

During Phase 3 Training Camp, TJ Oshie was asked how the team would pass time in the bubble. “We’re a Mario Kart team,” Oshie said.

He was not lying.

Monday night, while speaking to his wife Lauren back at home, TJ had to leave because he had very important business he needed to conduct in the bubble. He needed to play video games with the boys.

Lauren’s face says it all. TJ is the ultimate family man, but he brought his Seattle Seahawks-colored headphones for a reason. When he’s not playing on the ice, he will be jamming those joysticks off of it. And if all goes well, he’ll have another video game character tattooed on his other upper thigh in October.

The Washington Capitals held an optional skate on Wednesday which gave some players a chance to take their families out onto the ice at MedStar Capitals Iceplex. TJ Oshie took advantage of the opportunity and brought his wife and three kids to the rink. TJ even had his only son, one-year-old Campbell, go onto the ice for the first time.

“That smile,” Lauren Oshie wrote to her Instagram Story. “First time on the ice. He didn’t want to go off.”

I’m telling you now. This is the most precious thing you’ll see all day.

While Campbell didn’t wear any ice skates, he still tried to get around the ice as fast as he could, just like dad. As TJ held Campbell low towards the ice, Campbell wiggled his feet and smiled humangous big.

This kid’s a natural.

Oshie family surprises TJ with sweet presents of Coach on Father’s Day

Months removed from losing his dad, TJ Oshie was going to be an emotional Father’s Day – his first without Coach. But Lauren and TJ’s kids did their best to turn what could have been a sad day into a celebration of Coach’s life.

On his Instagram Story, TJ posted two photos of Father’s Day gifts he received. First, he got charms of his kids and one of him and Coach holding the Stanley Cup.

“The perfect Father’s Day present,” TJ wrote. “Thanks @lauren.oshie, Lyla, Leni and Campbell!! Love you!!!!”

The charms were just the beginning though.

Lauren commissioned local and very talented painter, Brooke Sullivan of Brooke Sullivan Art, to create a painting of TJ and Coach holding the Stanley Cup together.

Here’s a timeline video of Brooke painting which she posted to her Instagram.

TJ also posted a tribute to Coach earlier in the day.

“Miss this guy a little more today,” TJ wrote. “Happy Fathers Day to all the dads out there that go above and beyond so their kids can succeed. Happy Fathers Day Coach!”

Oshie famously scored a hat trick in his first Capitals’ game after his father’s death. Oshie received a giant team hug from his teammates before breaking down on the bench.

“I like to think I had a little bit of help out there from the big man,” Oshie said.

Falling TJ Oshie has the ball control of an NFL running back

TJ Oshie is a hockey player, but on Sunday, he showed that he had the talents of a two-sport star.

Oshie, while walking on his porch, missed one of the steps, rolled his ankle, and fell over … again. There was one problem: he was holding his son Campbell at the time.

But using his Peak Dad Powers, the Osh Babe didn’t drop his son. Instead, the avid Seahawks fan took the brunt of his fall on his knees, tucking Campbell into his body like he were a football.

“#BallSecurity,” joked Oshie on his Instagram Story. “#Graceful.”

Oshie added in another message, “Pops and little man are all good. He was laughing at the old man.”

According to Lauren Oshie, (who commented on our Instagram post – follow us), there was an injury suffered on the play, but it was very minor and appears to have only afflicted Dad.

Only TJ. 😆

A walking boot will not stop TJ Oshie from dominating Halloween

The Washington Capitals held their annual Halloween Party last night and Halloween was sure in full swing at the home of Lauren and TJ Oshie.

TJ channeled his cool mom vibes while sporting a walking boot on his right foot. The boot is due to an injury that he suffered against the Detroit Red Wings and is currently keeping him out week-to-week hockey-wise but clearly not forcing him to be a regular mom.

TJ did his best June George impression, reminding you that happy hour is from four to six. Meanwhile, Lauren is letting us all know that we need to stop trying to make ‘fetch’ happen.

The Oshie’s have a rich history of going all out on Halloween and this year was definitely no different.

The Oshie family is getting even bigger. On Thursday, Lauren Oshie announced she was pregnant with the couple’s fourth child.

“Can’t exactly hide it anymore….. SURPRISE! 💕💕Baby Oshie #4 coming January,” Lauren wrote on Instagram.

The family revealed the gender, a girl, by allowing Lyla, the couple’s oldest daughter, to read what appears to be the test results.

The baby will be the Oshie’s third daughter. The couple already has Lyla, Leni, and Campbell.

The Washington Capitals will be without veteran winger TJ Oshie when they take the ice for practice on Monday in Denver.

Oshie has left the team’s road trip early to return home and be with his wife Lauren, who is expecting the birth of the couple’s fourth child.

The news was reported by the team’s traveling beat writers, Tarik El-Bashir of The Athletic and Samantha Pell of The Washington Post.

The Oshies announced in early September that they were expecting their fourth child, a girl. The couple’s third daughter will join big sisters Lyla and Leni and big brother Campbell.

Recently, Lauren posted on Instagram a video of TJ building a “big boy” bed for their son Campbell as they prepared for the arrival of baby number four.

Oshie scored in the Caps’ 6-2 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights on Saturday night and has five goals in 10 games since returning from injury on January 3 against the Buffalo Sabres.

He is one of six Caps players to hit double digits in goals this season despite battling back injury problems.

From everyone at RMNB, congratulations to TJ and Lauren!

TJ Oshie did not play in the Washington Capitals’ 3-2 loss to the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday. But, it was for a very good reason as he flew home to be with his wife Lauren who was expecting the birth of their fourth child.

Today, the couple announced that Lauren gave birth to their third daughter Lucy on Wednesday. Lauren posted photos of their new baby girl on Instagram.

According to Lauren’s Instagram post, Lucy’s middle name is Collins and she weighed nine pounds and two ounces on arrival.

Lucy will join big sisters Lyla and Leni as well as big brother Campbell. The Oshie family can now fully ice a stellar penalty-killing unit.

Despite all the certain chaos in the Oshie household, TJ skated 19:22 of ice time in the Capitals’ 3-2 shootout victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday. He played on the top line with Caps captain Alex Ovechkin and center Dylan Strome.

Congratulations, Oshie fam!

TJ Oshie and Nicklas Backstrom celebrate Nationals’ Ryan Zimmerman at Fight for Children charity event

TJ Oshie and Nicklas Backstrom showed up to support Washington Nationals legend Ryan Zimmerman at the annual Fight For Children Honors Thursday night. The event supports DC charity Fight For Children, which aims to help underprivileged youth through participation in sports.

Zimmerman was one of the event’s honorees, celebrating both his decorated baseball career and his work in the community.

Lauren Oshie posted photos from the night on Instagram. “An amazing night supporting our friends ♥,” she wrote.

Fight for Children honored Zimmerman alongside the annual Congressional Baseball Game and the NWSL’s Washington Spirit. Zimmerman was recognized not only for his World Series-winning tenure with the Washington Nationals but also for founding the ziMS foundation in 2006, which works to find a cure for Multiple Sclerosis.

“He’s the kind of guy you say you want your son to grow up to be,” Mark Lerner, current principal owner of the Nationals, said of Zimmerman ahead of the event.

Zimmerman retired at the end of the 2021 season after spending his entire 16-year career in Washington. In 2022, he became the first ever Nationals player to have his number retired by the franchise. He’s also a longtime fan of the Capitals: he’s practiced with the team as a goalie after losing a bet to Nicklas Backstrom and later joked about the experience when congratulating Alex Ovechkin for hitting 800 goals.

On Thursday, Oshie and Backstrom took to the stage with Zimmerman when he accepted the award. Fight For Children presented him with a wrestling belt, a nod to the organization’s longtime Fight Night event, which the Fight for Children Honors has since replaced.

The funds raised at the Fight for Children Honors will benefit many youth sports programs in the DC area, as well as supporting the Fight for Children Sports Medicine Center. Even after leaving the game, Zimmerman continues to contribute to the larger DC sports community.

Congratulations, Ryan!

TJ Oshie had an incredible outfit for a Morgan Wallen concert

TJ Oshie is an American hero and this is another reason why.

On Saturday night, Oshie attended the Morgan Wallen concert at Fedex Field with his wife Lauren and extended family. Nicklas Backstrom, John Carlson, and Nick Jensen joined the Oshies at the show with their significant others.

But I want to focus on Oshie’s lewk. Not only did Teej enthusiastically fit the vibe of the concert, but he made an iconic fashion statement that may or may not have been a partial tribute to Larry The Cable Guy and Woody from Toy Story.

Breathe this in for a minute. Oshie wore a sleeveless red cowboy shirt with white embroidered detail, dark wash jeans with white stitching, and tall black cowboy boots. The chef’s kiss is his farmer’s tan and cowboy hat.

This is a Wallen superfan who looks like he’d want to tell you about the ’98 Braves and warn you about the Devil You Don’t Know with Whiskey Sunglasses on.

As someone who has been present at a party with this hockey legend, he always finds a way to bring joy, just like he does during warmups of Capitals games with his ridiculous superstitions.

For those who want to mimick Oshie’s fashion look, I personally don’t know where to start. But if you dig Lauren Oshie’s attire, she has links up on her Instagram Story.

One final note: retired Washington Nationals stars Ryan Zimmerman and Stephen Strasburg joined the group at the show per Lauren Oshie’s IG Story.

Lauren Oshie provides encouraging update after TJ Oshie’s scary injury: ‘TJ’s doing much better this morning’

$

TJ Oshie was injured in the second period of the Washington Capitals’ 5-0 loss to the Edmonton Oilers on Black Friday.

In a freak play, Oshie collided hard into Oilers defenseman Mattias Ekholm at the blue line, causing the Capitals forward to crumple to the ice. Oshie, dazed, stayed down several minutes before being helped down the hallway to the locker room by his teammates.

After the game, Spencer Carbery said that Oshie “won’t travel” for the Capitals’ five-game road trip that will see the club not play at Capital One Arena again until December 7 — a span of 12 days.

But there is some encouraging news from TJ’s wife Lauren, who took to Instagram on Saturday to calm fans’ worries.

“Thanks so much for all of the kind messages ❤,” Lauren wrote on her Instagram Story. “TJ’s doing much better this morning and instead of traveling with the team he will be recovering at home ❤

Oshie, who was struck in the head on the play, has a long history of concussions, estimating in December 2018 he had suffered five at that point in his career.

The injury — officially termed upper-body in nature — comes at an unfortunate time as the soon-to-be 37-year-old had played all 17 games this season and finally scored his first goal of the year two nights prior against the Buffalo Sabres on Thanksgiving Eve.

Oshie is coming off two injury-marred seasons, costing him more than 60 games. The right wing developed lingering back problems after playing through a broken foot during the 2021-22 season, leading to three extended absences from the team. To stay healthy, he recently pledged to give up one of his greatest loves, golf, for the rest of his hockey career.

While Oshie only has two points in his first 17 games, Capitals head coach Spencer Carbery believed he’s been a huge part of the team’s early success that has them second in the Metropolitan Division with a 10-5-2 record.

“I’ve told him, he’s done a lot of good things for our team and a big reason why we’re winning a lot of games,” Carbery said. “Yeah, it might not be in the game sheet every night, but I see it on the film. We’re winning games because of a lot of the little things he does.”

Oshie has shared the second alternate captain A with Tom Wilson since Nicklas Backstrom stepped away from the team earlier in the month.
